2205 duplex stainless steel is a nitrogen-added duplex stainless steel. Duplex stainless steel 2205 alloy is a composite stainless steel composed of 21% chromium, 2.5% molybdenum and 4.5% nickel-nitrogen alloy. Its resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion is particularly good in an environment containing chlorides. It has won the favor of users with its superior mechanical and corrosion resistance comprehensive performance, and has become an excellent corrosion-resistant engineering material that saves both weight and investment.

Compared with austenitic stainless steel, the advantages of duplex stainless steel are as follows:
1.The yield strength is more than twice that of common austenitic stainless steel, and it has sufficient plasticity and toughness required for forming. The wall thickness of storage tanks or pressure vessels made of duplex stainless steel is 30-50% less than that of commonly used austenitic steel, which is conducive to cost reduction.
2.It has excellent resistance to stress corrosion cracking. Even the duplex stainless steel with the lowest alloy content has a higher resistance to stress corrosion cracking than austenitic stainless steel, especially in environments containing chloride ions. Stress corrosion is a prominent problem that is difficult to solve for common austenitic stainless steel.
3.The corrosion resistance of 2205 duplex stainless steel, which is most commonly used in many media, is superior to that of ordinary 316L austenitic stainless steel. Super duplex stainless steel has extremely high corrosion resistance and can even replace high-alloy austenitic stainless steel and even corrosion-resistant alloys in some media, such as acetic acid and formic acid.
4.It has excellent resistance to local corrosion. Compared with austenitic stainless steel of similar alloy content, its resistance to wear corrosion and fatigue corrosion is superior to that of austenitic stainless steel.
5.The linear expansion coefficient of austenitic stainless steel is low and close to that of carbon steel, making it suitable for connection with carbon steel. This has significant engineering significance, such as in the production of composite plates or linings.
6.Whether under dynamic or static load conditions, duplex stainless steel has a higher energy absorption capacity than austenitic stainless steel. This is a significant advantage for structural components in dealing with sudden accidents such as impacts and explosions, and it has practical application value.
