Comparison and Analysis between Die Casting and Investment Casting

Die casting uses high pressure to force molten metal (primarily low-melting-point alloys like aluminum and zinc) into a reusable steel mold at high speed. This method is suitable for large-scale production, offering high efficiency, low cost (for large quantities), and excellent dimensional accuracy and surface finish. However, it suffers from high mold costs, material limitations, and difficulty casting very complex internal structures. Investment casting, on the other hand, uses disposable wax patterns and ceramic shells, pouring the mold under gravity or low pressure. It is suitable for small to medium-sized batches and can produce parts with extremely complex shapes (such as thin walls, fine textures, and complex cavities), with the highest dimensional accuracy and surface finish, and using the widest range of materials (including steel and high-temperature alloys). However, it also comes with long production cycles, high unit costs, and complex process steps.
